Meseleri

3km from Makrilia, 360m above sea level. Situated between the antique cretan cities Oleros and Oleria.

Sights:

The ancient Oleros and Oleria. The Olerian library.
The secret school next to the church of Agios Georgios (Kato Prina).
The monastery of Panagia Vriomeni (2km from the village), many of its cells reconstructed and many of its frescos restored. According to tradition, the first revolutionary meetings of Cretan leaders (1821) took place there. It was destroyed by the Turks eventually, while the revolutionaries took shelter in a near cave.

The festival of Moni Vriomenou on the 15th of August, of Metamorfosi tou Sotiros (Transfiguration) on the 6th of August and of Genisi tis Theotokou (Birth of the Holy Virgin) on the 8th of September.
