Pachia Ammos

15km to the north of Ierapetra, on the crossing of the road that leads to Heraklio(to the west) and to Sitia(to the east).Includes settlements of Pachia Ammos, Monastiraki, Vasiliki.

The Institute of Research of Prehistoric  Aegean Sea of the Eastern Crete.
Minoan settlements of Gournia and Vasiliki.
The churches of Agios Nikolaos and of Analipsi (Ascension of Christ)
(The icon of Agios Nikolaos is believed to accomplish miracles)
The beach of the settlement, Tholos and bridge Frousi.
Moni Faneromenis (historic monastery) in the area of Gournia to the northwest of Pachia Ammos.


Monastiraki

Settlement on the 10th km on the road to Pachia Ammos, close to the Ha Gorge, on a deviation of 2km to the right.

Sights:

Monastery of the first Christian years, converted into a mosque in the years of the Turkish occupation. Great landscape and panoramic view over the bay of Merambelo.

Vasiliki

On the 10th km of the road to Pachia Ammos, on a deviation of 1km to the left, on the hill Kefali.

Sights:

Kefali, Minoan settlement (2.300-2.100BC).
Old-Christian church (ruins) of the 4th to the 6th century on the foundations of an older temple.
